Roots Wild Crafts – Outdoor Skills Course (Ages 10–18)

A six-week, hands-on outdoor skills course for young people aged 10–18, accompanied by an adult.

Roots Wild Crafts is a professionally led, small-group course designed for young people who are home educated, flexi-schooled, or learning outside of mainstream education. Set on a beautiful private 18-acre site in Wirksworth, this course offers practical, creative and confidence-building experiences in a supportive outdoor environment.

What to Expect

Over six weekly sessions, participants will learn traditional bushcraft and heritage craft skills, including:

  • Fire lighting and outdoor cooking

  • Safe knife skills and whittling

  • Willow weaving

  • Pyrography (wood burning)

  • Journal making

  • Leatherwork

  • Cyanotype printing

  • And more nature-based crafts

Sessions are safety-focused, hands-on and designed to build independence, resilience and creativity while working at each young person’s pace.

  • Six consecutive Tuesdays, starting 14th April

  • 10:30am – 2:30pm

  • Private 18-acre outdoor site in Wirksworth

  • £120 for all 6 sessions (accompanying adult attends free)

  • All materials included

  • Limited places available – booking essential

This course is ideal for families seeking meaningful daytime learning opportunities, practical skill-building, and a welcoming community of like-minded young people.

 

We ask that a parent/ carer attends the sessions and encourage participation, This option is for 2 young people accompanied by an adult.
