Roots Wild Crafts – Outdoor Skills Course (Ages 10–18)
A six-week, hands-on outdoor skills course for young people aged 10–18, accompanied by an adult.
Roots Wild Crafts is a professionally led, small-group course designed for young people who are home educated, flexi-schooled, or learning outside of mainstream education. Set on a beautiful private 18-acre site in Wirksworth, this course offers practical, creative and confidence-building experiences in a supportive outdoor environment.
What to Expect
Over six weekly sessions, participants will learn traditional bushcraft and heritage craft skills, including:
Fire lighting and outdoor cooking
Safe knife skills and whittling
Willow weaving
Pyrography (wood burning)
Journal making
Leatherwork
Cyanotype printing
And more nature-based crafts
Sessions are safety-focused, hands-on and designed to build independence, resilience and creativity while working at each young person’s pace.

£120 for all 6 sessions (accompanying adult attends free)

This course is ideal for families seeking meaningful daytime learning opportunities, practical skill-building, and a welcoming community of like-minded young people.
This option if selected will book a place for one young person (aged 10-18) plus an accompanying adult.
We ask that a parent/ carer attends the sessions and encourage participation, If you would like to book an additional young person this can be done at a discounted rate of £180 for 2 young people and 1 accompanying adult. Please select this option in the shop.
