Held onboard the craft carriage at Ecclesbourne Valley Heritage Railway in Wirksworth, this 3-hour workshop is a wonderful opportunity to be introduced to the 17th century button making techniques known as the Dorset button – but with a twist! It's also a brilliant way to have some "me" time, relax away from the hustle bustle of packed shopping centres, connect with like-minded people, have a good natter and no doubt a good laugh too.

What You'll Learn

Sandrine will introduce you to the Dorset button techniques and guide you through the making of 2 Christmas themed hanging decorations: a cartwheel button style and either an angel or a Christmas tree. The angel will be for those who have already made Dorset buttons in the past and are looking for a more challenging project.  You'll be provided with everything you need on the day and shown the techniques with a few extra tips along the way. This will fill the 3 hours quite nicely, but if you don’t get time to finish, then an optional WhatsApp group will be available for further guidance if needed.

The workshop is accessible to all abilities as I like to make all my workshops beginner friendly. I will be guiding you through the whole process, you will have the opportunity to join a dedicated WhatsApp group for extra support, and you will have some instructions to take home. It will be held in a small group setting of no more than 12 people.
